What Okane reads
With your permission Okane reads bank and UPI alert SMS and notifications from payment apps (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm and similar) to record your expenses. Messages are parsed on your phone. OTPs, promotional messages and personal messages are ignored and never stored.
The original message text stays on your phone. It is never uploaded.
What leaves your phone
Only if you sign in with Google, Okane syncs the records it created - amounts, merchants, categories, dates, budgets, goals, loans and subscriptions - plus any receipt photos you attach, so you can restore them on a new phone. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored on Cloudflare (D1 and R2).
Okane does not sell your data, show ads or share it with third parties. We store your Google account's email and a pseudonymous account id to identify your backup.
Your choices
- Use Okane without signing in: everything stays on your phone.
- Turn off SMS or notification access at any time in Android settings.
- Delete everything stored online from Settings โ Backup & export โ Delete cloud data, or see account deletion.
